mantello

Mantello

The first beer we made with Thrall Family Malt was a simple recipe meant to evalauate how this small, super local malt performed. We were so happy with the results, we decided to brew it again and again. This beer also showcases a faily rare heritage grain called Spelt which is an ancient form of wheat!

Understated toasty malt & noble hop aromas (lemon, herbs) give way to a touch of honey sweetness and velvety smooth mouthfeel. The clean and crisp finish invites another sip.

The Thrall Family has been farming in Connecticut since the 1640’s! They are best known for growing Shade Tobacco for use as premium cigar wrappers (Mantello means “wrapper” in Italian). Now the Thrall Family grows & malts their own barley, wheat, spelt and rye, a few miles down the road in Windsor, Connecticut!
