Grand Opening + Ribbon Cutting

It starts as a very distant maybe…some day. For us, it became a persistent, nagging – we should really try to make this happen. Next comes the hope, fear, doubt cycle. You think to yourself, “This might actually happen!”. Followed by, “Ummm…what have we done, are we ready for this – it might actually happen!” Punctuated with, “This is NEVER gonna happen. What have we done!?!” This repeats a couple hundred times through the course of a week throughout the project.

Just the Beginning

Eventually you reach the, “This MUST happen” stage and every obstacle is simply another problem that needs to be solved. It is no longer going to stop you. It is just the next thing that requires your attention.

Now that we have arrived at the Grand Opening, we do not view this as the end of the project. This is just the beginning; just the start of the good stuff. Now we get to work at making our beers better with every batch, and at continuosly improving the taproom so it is the kind of place you want to spend a Saturday afternoon. We are so grateful for the many people who contributed time, energy and yes – money – to make this day possible. We’re especially grateful for our parents, close friends & family for their incredible support.

We are honored to be able to share this journey with the fine folks of Windsor Locks, Connecticut (and beyond) but this is not the finish line. This is just the start…

Festivities

Ok…let’s talk timing: this shindig kicks off here at 5PM. That’s when First Selectman, Chris Kervick and State Rep., Jane Garibay will say a few words. But we’re mostly excited about getting to wield the giant scissors to cut some ribbon! We will be open until 9PM.

Raffle

There will be a raffle drawing at 6:00PM. Prizes include: a 65" TV, 15" Laptop, and GPS! Raffle tickets are free, we just ask that you bring a canned good to support the local food bank. Special thanks to the landlord for this one – they are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the plaza and they were generous enough to let us piggy-back on that celebration. That’s great news for at least 3 lucky rafflers (rafflizers? rafflefarians?).

Food

There will be some complimentary refreshments available in the brewery. Moon Star will have some samples available, and we are bringing in a charcuterie (meat & cheese) platter from the local Deli on Rt 75. We’re also debuting some new improved snacks (for sale) made for us by Drunk Alpacca with our beer!

And as always, you are free to bring in your own food and setup a picnic!

Beers

For those of you that have come to check out one of our “Soft Open” weekends, our taplist will look familiar. We have the 4 core beers: Stiltwalker, Vesuvio, Solafiore and Cafefreddo along with our Guest Fresh Blend Cider from New England Cider and LIMITED pours of DDH Stiltwalker (Batch 1 of Stiltwalker, Dry hopped again) + VERY LIMITED pours of Stout Season. We are also hoping to tap a “Pub Style” version of Festbier with locally grown hops (provided it cooperates).

You can always check out our most current taplist here.

We can’t wait to meet you all tonight!

Salute! Jen + James
