
Velveteen was built as a cask ale; perfect for hand pump (aka the “Beer Engine"). The softer carbonation and slightly warmer temperature bring out subtle layered malt flavors: toast, toffee, cocoa and a touch of roast. And that beautiful creamy foam is a textural treat.
So we’re bringing it back, but with an additional twist: Vanilla. We had a few extra vanilla beans from a recent beer experiment and decided to toss them into a cask of Velveteen. And….yeah…you’re gonna wanna try this. It will go *very* quickly, I promise that.
Plus - we’ll be having special Britishy celebration today with Beer-Battered Fish & Chips from JD’s Food Truck and a visit from our friends Chris & Kyle from Dead Language Beer Project who helped create Velveteen with us!
FUN FACT: Ali, our dynamic former beertendress, had a penchant for naming things. We were brainstorming ideas for bringing in more customers on Wednesdays when Ali offered, “Do hand pump” and proudly proclaimed it “Hump Day Pump Day!” And so whenever we serve a cask on Wednesday, we use this moniker as an homage to Ali.
