Köln Bierhall Experience

When we first brewed our Koldproof Kölsch-style beer we were excited for the opportunity to serve it in the traditional “stange” which is the German word for those small tubular glasses we have with the script logo. If you asked - heck, even if you didn’t - if you lingered by the bar long enough, James likely prattled on and on about how in Köln (also known as Cologne), bierhalls serve Kölsch in these glasses, and keep serving them until you put your coaster on top of your glass. All the while notching your coaster to keep track of your beer tally.

Well, we’re gonna do that here in the taproom!

And to deepen the experience, we’re pairing the traditional Kölsch service with a sampler of traditional Köln bierhall staples – slightly Americanized to make them more accessible:

• Himmel un Ad (“Heaven & Earth”) - A hearty combination of bratwurst, mashed potatoes & a bit of applesauce. (the original usually included blood sausage, we figured that might be a stretch.)
• Halve Hahn (“Half Hen”) - A common “brotzeit” combo: rye, gouda, red onion in grilled sandwich form.
• Schnitzel Slider - Chicken schnitzel with a tangy sauce on a slider roll.

Food by Fat City Kid. A vegetarian option is available which removes the meat & increases portions of the other items.

Each additional stange of Kölsch will be $3.50 during the event, if you are a Mugless or Stiltwalker Club member, we will apply your discount to these beers. 

Please note, the only beer available to participants will be Koldproof. And aside from getting up to get your food, you will stay seated and we will bring the beers to you – without you asking. Sounds pretty awesome, right? 

Arrive anytime between 4:30-7:30 pm and stay as long as you’d like until we close at 9 pm.
