Fall '23 | Week 6 Recap

In the inimitable words of the Notorious BIG, “It was all a dream…” The break-out Ball Buster brilliance from last week left their opponents so shook, they didn’t even show up this week! Alas, it was only a glimpse of greatness; a mere flash; a mirage. They’ve got skills lurking just below the surface but, for this week, they saw their shadow…so six more weeks of losses…err Winter..they’ll bounce back…where was I…OH YEAH I have no business being on that revered bocce pitch!

When The Fern Four’s opponent didn’t show, Jen and I stepped in to scrimmage. Wow. Jen was decent – I was downright awful. I shall stick to brewing beer and making benches…which is where I belong…right next to Will. Speaking of botched jobs, after a tremendous start, the Botched Job duo dropped their second straight match, losing to the Dirty Lowdowns in decisive fashion. Which is a great reminder that, no matter how many balls you’ve rolled, any given Wednesday could be your day!

Well….unless you are playing against Irish I Was Italian. Then they will roll right over you leaving nothing in their wake but tears, trampled clover and a lively tune. Undefeated, Team Irish has won every match by 5 or more points. They are virtually guaranteed the #1 seed in the playoffs. Next week they face off against 2-time Champs, Team Szabo (the presumptive #2 seed). This could be a championship preview! Come early to take in the drama, the thrill, the BALLS OF FURY! ~JW

EDITORS NOTE: Any insults are the sole silliness of James who, as mentioned above, has no business criticizing anyone’s bocce skills. He sucks. He is also just fooling around here, even though he seems serious all the time. He’s not. It’s his face. It knows he’s silly but never quite knows what to do about it.
