Artist Spotlight
Tom Massetti

At the Luppoleto Gallery: September 2025
Most of Tom’s art is freeform abstract wire sculptures that incorporate marbles, glass balls and other items. He uses various diameters and types of wire. Although most of his creations are approximately 2” to 3" tall, others range from 0.5” to12" tall and larger. Only on occasion does he have a “vision” of what he’s making. For Tom, the fun is in the randomness of the pieces and trying to get them to balance.
Tom also loves photography (Amateur). Along with other images that he takes, Tom likes to take photos of his art and enlarge them into various sizes prints.
His inspiration and motivation come from his family who are all very artistic as well. His younger son showed Tom over 10 years ago how he created different sculptures with wire, and he fell in love with this art form. Tom tried different things, including making jewelry before settling on his own style.
His older son suggested using Instagram to share his art, where anyone can view his photos. “If strangers take a minute to ‘Like’ your work, you know they’re not just being nice. They can just pass by it if they don’t like it.” The responses from social media have encouraged him.
Tom’s wife has been encouraging him to attempt selling photos of his art and eventually the actual pieces. She believed from the start that his art is marketable. And now that he’s retired, she’s helping Tom to see where it goes.
The satisfaction Tom gets is when people look at his whimsical, random shapes and smile.
